Writer. Filmmaker. Storyteller
Mirella is a multiple award-winning writer. She was twice awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Prize for her script "Seven Eternities," a one-hour television drama that revolves around the heady world of early psychedelic research. It was selected for a fellowship at 'Film Independent' in its Episodic Lab, sponsored by Netflix. Her feature screenplay made the "It List" of the Best unproduced scripts in 2018 in Canada. She has written, directed and produced films, most recently the short "Lady Electric." Mirella is fascinated by stories that feature multi-faceted, contrarian characters that operate at the intersection of fact and fiction.
Mirella completed her MFA at NYU's Tisch School for the Arts in Dramatic Writing, and comes from a career in journalism and television news producing at some of the biggest global firms. Mirella is most interested in connecting to audiences with powerfully entertaining, intelligent content.

Me & My Style
A marriage of intellectual-driven (Apollonian) and intuitive-emotional (Dionysian). My banner is Apollonian Media.
Professionally, I've done it all from hard journalism, documentary research, to indie film director-writer-producer. My concern for the cosmos is communicated through my creativity. We are all meaning-making machines, and stories are the most potent technology for transferring knowledge. Film correlates most closely to the mind's subconscious dream state. The adjacent reality. Films are dreams made manifest, and a bridge between human to human. Empathy is evoked when we observe a character, through mirror neurons. This is how film effortlessly dissolves boundaries, which in turn allows us to open communication with access to understanding.
Depending on the project, my work has been inspired by like minds. I love Jane Campion, Richard Linklater, Charlie Kaufman, Pedro Almodovar, Wong Kar-Wai.
